Aston Villa are set to land Gareth Barry at Villa Park this summer.

The return of the star to the club would raise the profile even further after they nabbed John Terry recently. The fans of the club have long awaited the addition of the player but time is running fast.

The former Manchester city man is set to exit Goodison Park this summer. There are Premier League sides that are keen on landing him such as West Bromwich Albion, Burnley and the rest. If Aston Villa want to land him, they would have to jump the rest of the interested sides and appeal to the emotional side of the former Villan to return.

Barry is very experienced and fits the requirements of manager Steve Bruce. Bruce wants players with the experience to handle the pressure at Villa Park. Terry is a well-known skipper who can lead the team back into top flight football. Barry is also that calibre and can contribute substantially to the club dreams.

The Stoke City star has been a consistent performer in the Premier League in almost a decade. Villa supporters are not really excited at the prospect of the player joining as they prefer those who have risen through the ranks at Bodymoor Heath.

Barry is a Claret and Blue star that was a cult hero before his move to Etihad in 2009. He was very classy when the club denied his move to Liverpool in 2008. He enjoyed his time at the club before leaving to City the next summer. Bruce is a big fan of the player but it is uncertain if he would go the length to get the 36-year old.
